In Japan, #natural_pozzolans occur abundantly in the form of volcanic ash. Among these materials, the volcanic glass fraction, when extracted and finely ground, is known as #Volcanic_Glass_Powder (VGP), which has recently been standardized in the Japan Industrial Standard (#JIS).
VGP exhibits high reactivity and excellent industrial applicability, and is widely distributed throughout Japan. In addition to its potential for concrete applications, there is growing interest in its use across various industrial fields. However, its chemical characteristics and reaction mechanisms remain insufficiently understood.
Our research team has been conducting detailed investigations to clarify these aspects. Recently, our paper on a method for evaluating the reaction degree of VGP using the PONKCS approach has been published in Materials and Structures.
